If you have been in the German statutory pension-insurance scheme, you’re also entitled to claim your acquired pension benefits abroad. Currently the German pension funds pay out pension benefits in over 150 countries.

Likewise, for a variety of reasons many pensioners in Germany draw their pension, a second pension, or the pension of their deceased spouse from abroad. The assertion of pension claims in Germany requires the presentation of the corresponding foreign documents, including all exact details on the length and times of employment, issued by the various agencies involved such as the Job Center in German as the official language, thus meaning that the documents must be submitted as certified German translations.
