The price for translations results from the amount of work invested. Depending on whether your text is presented as an editable Word file or as a (scanned) paper document, whether it involves a lot of formatting work (e.g. for tables and graphics), and how many technical terms are used in the text, processing times can vary considerably. Just send us your documents and we’d be pleased to give you an estimate on the anticipated work effort.
To help you with your planning, here’s a simple rule of thumb you can use: The translation of a text of medium difficulty with 200–250 words and a moderate formatting effort takes us about 1.25 hours, including formatting and proofreading by a second translator.
When making your plans, please bear in mind that many of the projects we’re working on at any one time are major ones, meaning that we need a certain lead time and can’t always start on your job straight after your call. If your text is just one to three pages long, we can usually get the translation back to you within three working days.
For the proofreading of a translation that’s been made into the translator’s native language, a throughput of approx. 800-1,000 words per hour can be anticipated. If the translation hasn’t been done into the native tongue, a throughput of 500 words per hour is a more reasonable estimate. Among other things, the time investment depends on the experience and expertise of the original translator whose work has to be reviewed.
When it comes to the final editing of a text written by a native speaker, you should expect a throughput of approx. 2,000 words per hour. If the text to be edited was written by a non-native speaker, the amount of time required is correspondingly higher.
Depending on the service you book, our hourly rate lies between 69.00 and 89.00 euros, incl. VAT.
